Pricing Products On Ebay
There are many new sellers on eBay who don’t realize the importance of proper pricing. Many don’t even know that they should price their items. You should realize that eBay is an auction site. But eBay auctions are not quite the same as the auctions you attend in the offline world. In fact, quite a bit of work goes into determining and setting prices.
Essentially, there are only three prices that can be set for an eBay auction: the ‘buy it now’ price, the reserve price, and the starting bid price. the one that is needed for an auction is the Starting Bid price. The reserve price and the ‘buy it now’ price are optional. The starting bid price is fairly simple never set it higher than $50 or so no matter what your item is really worth. You do this so bidders will be attracted to your auction.
If you have a very low Starting Bid price, then chances are you’d need a Reserve price. A reserve price is the absolute lowest price that you want to get for your item. You may or may not sell your product below that. This means that if you have a Reserve price of $100, and your highest bid is only $50, you’re not obliged to sell your product to that bidder. You’re free to close your auction without any negative feedback. The Reserve price should be set as the amount that you are willing to sell your product for. Don’t forget the product’s worth and its cost.
The Buy It Now price enables you to set a price that clients can grab without a bid. You can use this option for any item, and it should not be set too far from you Reserve Price. This is a really advantageous option if you have more than one quantity of an item.
Customers are aware of shipping costs, and they consider this when they look at auctions. If you can offer free shipping, more people will bid at your auction. So make it known to potential buyers that you have free shipping.
You should first determine a product’s worth before you set a price. A different market might mean a different value. You’re in a whole new world on eBay! Compare prices of similar items on eBay before you set prices. Have your item evaluated if it’s a collectible or an in-demand item so you won’t lose money.
