How To Have Successful Ebay Auctions

Many first time sellers have one thing in common they fail. There are plenty who fail numerous times, never realizing what’s wrong. They spend so much time looking for their items to sell on eBay, set up an auction, and wait for bids. Hours go by and no bids are placed. Even after days, there are no bids. The auction will end up a failure. Considering the huge number of sellers who run eBay auctions, there are specific things you must do, and specific things you must not do if you are to be successful.

There are many reasons why auctions fail. A very common reason is the demand for the product: it’s not. By doing research, you’ll know which items sell well and which won’t. Of course, you’ll spend some time doing research, but it’s very worth it.

Another reason is the pricing. Make sure that your opening bid price shouldn’t exceed about $50, no matter your reserve price. This will attract customers to your auction. If you have a very high opening bid, people won’t bother to read the description for your item. Another pricing problem is lack of research. Prior to setting your reserve price, know your product’s worth and check the prices of similar items sold on eBay.

Poorly written descriptions are another cause of failed auctions. People are driven away by wrong grammar and spelling. Failing to post a picture of the item will also keep people from visiting your auction page. You should write your description well. This is like your sales copy.

Auctions that have high shipping prices are likely to fail. Look for the lowest shipping price, and you might want to pay for it yourself if it won’t eat up too much of your profit. Do not charge handling fees.

Offer great ‘customer service’ for all of your auctions, and ask your buyers to give you feedback. If the items that you sell are everything that you said they would be, and you offer great customer service, you can expect wonderful feedback and this feedback will help a great deal in your future auctions.
